t-shirts + fancy skirts...

I just happen to love this combo. I think mixing genres are one of my favorite ways to show individuality. There are some celebrities that pull it off all the time. I hope to do this myself, only when I have awesome places to go.

Chanel Resort Collection 2010

I saw an article in Marie Claire by Nina Garcia about the new Chanel line. It had photos of the style of the runway show, the behind the scenes, and inspirations of Venice in the 1920's. Chanel's Makeup Creative Director took the makeup and hairstyles from the Italian heiress Marchesa Luisa Casati.

I immediatly fell in love with the collection, of course the B&W, simple and classic pieces, but most of all the makeup. I went home and looked it up. Luckily for style.com I was able to find the entire collection...

Chanel Resort 2010 Collection

Here are a few of my favorites...

The makeup in these photos inspired my own Halloween costume as a Flapper. I am not a pro with makeup, but my best friend happened to be in town and she is a makup artist! Ta-da! She was kind enough to do my makeup for Halloween...

So, thank you Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld for your ever beautiful clothes and imagination. They will always inspire me...

Gwen Stefani. Happy 40th!

Long ago in 1995, a wonderfully fresh band called No Doubt came onto the main stream radio scene and the MTV waves with Tragic Kingdom. I remember that album and their videos so vividly and it all had to do with Gwen Stefani.

I must confess... I love Gwen Stefani! I know it seems strange to idolize a human being, but she just happens to be talented and incredible and I guess it's ok. I love everything she does. I have now seen her on the Sweet Escape solo tour and with No Doubt and cried just a little with excitement at both shows. I also own 2 of her L.A.M.B. bags, a wallet, and the perfume.

In honor of her 40th birthday (yes, she is 40! although I would have never guessed it) just a few days ago, I thought I would show you some of my favorite photos I have found of her. She transforms herself every few years and these photos are just a few of the characters she can pull off.

...as Jean Harlow

...as Eliza Doolittle

...as Alice in Wonderland

...as 20's socialite

I have tons of other photos and will periodically showcase certain favorites of her style and relationship with husband, Gavin Rossdale. I must say they happen to be my all time favorite couple.

troubling images...

A friend of mine posted this website on Facebook and I thought I would share it with you. It goes to show how ridiculous the fashion industry can be about what they think the consumer needs to see to purchase clothes/products. And we are wondering why girls now days have body image issues...

Ralph Lauren model

This is the image that is causing all the fuss...

This is another aggravating advertisement, although not as bad as Ralph Lauren.

Those photo-shoppers are really GOOD! It's nice to know Jessica Alba has hips and a normal womanly frame, in real life.

Check out the site and be disgusted!!!

I want that...

I got the book "Little Black Book of Style" by Nina Garcia for x-mas and I am quite obsessed with acquiring the basics of a great wardrobe. I have a nice list of things that I want and have found some perfect pieces, but not all.

I love the idea of have great classic pieces to mix and match with trends and accessories for more options in my closet. I have quite a way to go, but I am slowly creating a wonderful collection. Some of the items are my own personal "have-to-haves" and the others are on most lists of what is the base of good style...

*black pointy flats from Steve Madden
*black "Audrey" pants from Express
*fitted blazer from The Limited
*sequin dress from Steve Madden
*leather jacket from Old Navy
*men's blue oxford from American Apparel

Here are the items I am searching for...
*Tuxedo jacket (casual or fancy)

*shift dress
*brown or gray boots
*thick studded leather belt

I of course don't need any of these but I feel like i will get so much use out of these items that I can use and reuse these classics over and over!

my haircuts...

always require a celebrity muse!

A few years ago, I saw a magazine cover that made me want a drastic haircut so badly I decided to get it in a matter of hours. It was the March 2006 Vogue with Natalie Portman on the cover. It sadly didnt turn out exactly the way I wanted and I ended up growing it out in the long run.

After about a year of growing my hair out for my wedding, I needed a big change. I went all out and got the "Katy Perry." Bangs and all!! I loved it. Well, that is until summer came and my bangs made me so hot that I sweat and they curled, and well, am growing them out.

Now, I am due for yet another do from yet another celebrity. They always have great hair so why not copy them.

As soon as I saw this haircut, style and outfit, for that matter, on Sarah Jessica Parker (or Carrie Bradshaw to be exact) I fell in love! I have been waiting for the perfect time to get another awesome cut and now is the time. I will not go blonde, for now, but I will keep my current blonde highlights.

After Friday the 18th, I will let you see the new 'do!!!

Drew Barrymore

I must say there are few people out there who have the most awesomely perfect everyday wear down pat. But to mix that with beautiful, classy evening wear is a feat in itself.

Drew Barrymore has become a style icon with the perfect mix of her awesome/classy wardrobe.

Lets hang out Drew!!!

best dressed men...

These 5 guys just happen to be my favorite men when it comes to style. They all know how to wear a great suit (or anything for that matter), and that is a feat in it's self. They are in no particular order, as I cannot decide which is the best. You can decide for yourself...

Brad Pitt

David Beckham

Tiki Barber

Steve McQueen

Daniel Craig

Or just drool over them like I do. Go Suits!!

new luggage...

At the fabulous Brass Armadillo (I-70 & Kipling in Denver), the best antique store, I found a gorgeous 3 piece luggage set!! It is a vintage light grey Ultralite Samsonite (slappy, swammy, I was way off) set with yellow satin lining. I have been searching for good luggage for years and they were either too beat up, expensive, or ugly. The set only cost 19 bucks for all 3 and I got 15% off!

The round hat case is the best!

I also found me the Red Royal Traveler train case by Samsonite. (although mine isn't beat to shit like this one!)

You know you want some kick ass luggage all for yourself, but it won't have "KGB" as the initials like mine does!
